Learn More About How We Can Work Together…

ARCHITECTURE

Architecture is much more than the practice of designing and constructing buildings.

It's about working with people to produce a vision, create a design, find a solution, and achieve a goal together.

Working together to achieve a mutual goal is when the magic really happens.

I love the challenge of successfully working through that process with my clients.

Currently, I am a licensed Architect in Colorado and Florida.

ARCHITECTURAL PROCESS

The Architectural Process in Key West is a little unique, here’s how we help walk you through the it…

  • Utilizing the survey, elevation certificate, any historical documentation, and on-site measurements we draw the existing conditions of the building. Accurate plans are the basis for a great new design.

  • We conduct a zoning, floodplain, Building Code, and Key West Historic Architecture Review Commission (HARC) analysis to understand the limiting factors and opportunities of the site.

  • We work with the owner to create a design that fits their needs and reflects their personal style. This phase also includes coordinating with a structural engineer and facilitating the initial design review process with HARC and Zoning, if necessary

  • We create a full set of stamped plans that includes construction details and any electrical, mechanical and structural plans which is then submitted to the City for permit.

  • Once construction begins, we are available to answer questions, troubleshoot issues that arise, and work with the General Contractor to redesign or solve any design problems.

POOL DESIGN
& PLANNING

Adding a pool to your Key West home can be invaluable, but sometimes a challenge to build while complying with HARC and Planning Department regulations.

We can help you understand the setback, impervious ratio, and historic requirements
that may be limiting factors to your pool design.

Our focus will be creating a pool design that reflects the size, type, and style that will suit your needs so you can refresh and relax on those warm Key West days.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

In my time at the General Services Administration, I managed large-scale Federal projects in a five-state region.

From replacing mechanical equipment, to tenant-finish interior remodels, historical preservation projects, land acquisition, roofing, and new construction, I've managed design & construction projects of all budgets and sizes.

I've also managed large-scale urban design projects that required collaboration between both developers and community stake-holders. Between the community presentations, design iterations, site analyses, and time spent addressing all parties' needs and concerns, I understand that project management is all about relationships.

Oftentimes those relationships are equally as important as the project itself.

DISASTER MITIGATION

I have also worked for FEMA as a Hazard Mitigation Architect, helping communities affected by disasters to build back better. I traveled to various disasters, assessed the damage, and worked with local authorities to determine how to rebuild public buildings and infrastructure to be stronger and more resilient.

Observing the effect that water, wind and fire can have on buildings is always an important consideration in my work and informs all of my designs.
